Drop in diesel prices: Emmanuel Macron praises "concrete solutions that bear fruit", "without touching taxes"

On November 2, Emmanuel Macron welcomed the initial decrease in diesel prices at French gas stations, attributing it to government measures. Diesel prices dropped by 12 to 18 cents per liter in over half of the stations, as confirmed by Commerce Minister Serge Papin. This reduction aligns with promises made by the government following the release of strategic oil reserves to stabilize prices. However, some independent stations expressed dissatisfaction over not receiving the same benefits as larger distributors. The government assured that measures are in place to support these smaller stations. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu also highlighted the savings for consumers, emphasizing that the benefits from the strategic reserve release would be fully passed on to them.
