Could electric car owners be in trouble at home?
Electric vehicles have become a significant part of urban landscapes in Hungary, aided by government incentives. The number of fully electric cars is expected to exceed 100,000 by the end of 2025, reflecting a thirteenfold increase since early 2020. However, this still represents less than 5% of the total vehicle fleet of approximately 4.4 million. The availability of charging points is crucial, especially as some electric models can only charge from AC sources. The number of public charging stations has risen dramatically from under 100 in 2016 to over 2,800 expected by 2024, with most located in Pest County.
