Balloon cigarette smuggling thwarted. Lithuanians and Belarusians detained.

On October 20, border guards acted on reports of suspicious balloons heading towards Warmia and Mazury. They discovered nearly 660,000 smuggled cigarettes with Belarusian excise duty across several counties, valued at approximately 680,000 PLN. Four Lithuanian citizens and one Belarusian were arrested for tax offenses and violations related to national security laws. All detainees were remanded in custody by court decision.
