Although Szijjártó promised "job creation" support, the BYD factory in Szeged has so far been left hanging.

The BYD investment in Szeged currently lacks a signed support agreement, as confirmed by the National Investment Agency (HIPA). Despite the announcement of state support for job creation by Minister Péter Szijjártó in 2023, the exact amount remains undisclosed pending European Commission approval. The anticipated support could exceed 10% of the total investment, amounting to tens of billions of forints. The government has committed 46 billion forints for the development of the industrial park housing the factory, which includes utility upgrades and road expansions. Additionally, over 70 billion forints in state infrastructure development is linked to the BYD project.
