Barcelona fined £503 over approach for Alvarez
Barcelona has been fined €602 (£503) for improperly contacting striker Julian Alvarez, as claimed by Atletico Madrid. Atletico accused Barcelona of not notifying them before approaching Alvarez, who remains under contract until June 2030. Although Atletico also reported the matter to FIFA, the governing body stated it had no jurisdiction. Alvarez, who has faced mixed reactions from fans, apologized for previous comments expressing a desire to play for Barcelona, acknowledging the fans' anger. He joined Atletico from Manchester City in August 2024 for a fee potentially reaching £81.5m, scoring 51 goals in 115 appearances since.
