Very strong earthquake in Tibet. There are injured, services have rushed to the scene
A significant earthquake struck northern Tibet at 10:33 PM local time, with its epicenter in the sparsely populated Nagqu region. The quake, occurring at a depth of about 10 kilometers, was felt approximately 400 kilometers from Lhasa, the capital. Reports indicate cracks appeared in homes near the epicenter, and at least two injuries were confirmed in a nearby village. Residents were seen evacuating their homes for safety. Following the main quake, several aftershocks of magnitude 3 to 4 were recorded. Local emergency services have been deployed, but the extent of damage remains unclear. This earthquake is noted as the strongest in China since January 2024, recalling a devastating 2010 quake in Qinghai that resulted in nearly 2,700 fatalities.
