BE attacks "negative consensus" on housing
José Manuel Pureza, the coordinator of Bloco de Esquerda, criticized the current housing consensus in Portugal, which he claims favors golden visas and tax breaks for non-habitual residents. He argues that this consensus, involving parties like Chega, PSD, and PS, negatively impacts the right to housing for younger generations. Pureza also condemned the disproportionate police response to protests, suggesting it reflects the government's political weakness. He called for popular mobilization against rising housing costs, urging citizens to peacefully protest for their rights and those of future generations.
