György Matolcsy cannot escape appearing before the parliamentary inquiry committee even if he is dismissed.
Former central bank governor György Matolcsy, suspected of economic fraud, must appear before the investigative committee despite his detention. His lawyer stated that even the most severe coercive measures do not exempt him from obligations to appear and testify. The committee chairman, Attila Csőszi, confirmed their intention to hear Matolcsy, even after his arrest on October 23. Matolcsy is accused of causing significant financial damage and using false private documents. The case involves five suspects, including Matolcsy's son, Ádám, and businessman György Stofa, who are currently at large with international arrest warrants issued against them.
