Belgian ex-dentist (72) receives seven years in prison for years of abusing patients

A former dentist in Belgium has been sentenced to seven years in prison for sexually assaulting and raping patients over a 25-year period. The Antwerp court found that the 72-year-old man abused his position to fulfill his sexual fantasies, inventing non-existent medical treatments. He filmed his assaults during these fake procedures, scheduling appointments when no one else was present. The dentist was arrested in April 2025 after a patient reported feeling uncomfortable during a treatment, leading to 73 victims coming forward. Testimonies revealed humiliating experiences, including invasive actions under the guise of medical necessity. The court increased the initial five-year sentence proposed by the prosecution due to the severity and duration of the offenses, as well as the traumatic impact on the victims. He was also convicted of forgery, fraud, and practicing without a license.
