The Republic has sued the band that plays their songs and uses their name

The Republic band has given a deadline until November 1 for the band using the name Republika to cease trademark infringement or face legal action. Founded in 1990, Republic was led by Cipő until his death in 2013, after which Boros Csaba took over as lead singer. The Republika band aims to evoke Cipő's musical legacy by performing Republic's songs, featuring guest musicians. However, Republic claims the name Republika infringes on their trademark rights and has previously requested a name change. Boros Csaba stated that if Republika does not comply, they will pursue legal action. Republika has not responded to inquiries.
