Child benefit savings slightly adjusted: lower age limit will take effect later, exception for vulnerable students

Students facing study delays will not lose their Groeipakket when turning 24, thanks to exceptions for vulnerable groups. The age limit reduction will now take effect on October 1, 2027, instead of January 2027. This decision, initiated by Flemish Minister Caroline Gennez, aims to support students completing their academic year and those affected by serious circumstances, such as illness or caregiving responsibilities. The government acknowledges the challenges faced by these students and seeks to prevent them from losing financial support due to factors beyond their control.
