Driver accidentally drives into Albertkanaal in Eigenbilzen and escapes through car window

A 38-year-old man from Hoeselt accidentally drove his new car into the Albert Canal while trying to enjoy the surroundings. Believing the car was in reverse, he pressed the gas and ended up in the water. He managed to escape through the window unharmed. Bystanders alerted emergency services, but despite a search by divers, the car was not found due to strong currents. The search was called off, and the driver returned home wet but uninjured.
