The I. district would ban Airbnb in the Buda Castle from 2028
The local government of Budavár is considering stricter regulations on short-term rentals, potentially banning them entirely in the Buda Castle area. A draft regulation has been prepared based on public feedback, with a social consultation period now open. In a recent local vote, 58.6% supported a complete ban on short-term rentals, with 66% in favor in the Buda Castle area. Proposed measures include a total ban starting January 1, 2028, in the Buda Castle area, and stricter conditions for existing rentals in other parts of the district. Local representatives will make a final decision in November, following a 15-day public comment period.
