Domestic tourism is booming, while Hungarians preferred to vacation in Croatia more than ever before.
A record number of 834,000 Hungarians vacationed in Croatia by the end of September, according to RTL News. Meanwhile, domestic tourism declined by 7% due to a strong forint. The number of Hungarian tourists in Croatia increased by about 12% compared to last year. The Hungarian Hotels and Restaurants Association noted that the drop in domestic tourism could halt price increases. Croatian tourism authorities reported a historic record, with many guests perceiving vacations on the Croatian coast as cheaper than at Lake Balaton. Despite Croatia experiencing a 4% inflation rate, financial analyst Levente Tóth stated that the Croatian coast is approximately 10% cheaper for Hungarians than domestic options.
