An investigation led by the Podlaskie National Revenue Administration uncovered illegal alcohol production in Poland, resulting in multiple arrests. The operation began in mid-2023 with the seizure of 2,300 liters of illegal alcohol and related substances. In January 2024, authorities discovered over 5,000 liters of moonshine in another raid. By March 2025, seven individuals faced charges for producing nearly 26,000 liters and selling over 33,000 liters of illegal alcohol, causing an estimated loss of over 950,000 PLN to the state budget. The illicit alcohol was primarily distributed via courier services. During the first court hearing, one defendant denied charges while another claimed purchases were for personal use. Further hearings are scheduled for December.
