Blue District in Heusden-Zolder becomes a horror festival: 100 children participate in 'trick-or-treat' along 25 houses

Around 100 children in the Blauwe Wijk of Heusden-Zolder participated in Halloween festivities, trick-or-treating at 25 houses. The event aimed to unite new residents and foster community spirit. Neighbors prepared treats, with some even baking special snacks for the children. The tradition of trick-or-treating has evolved from ancient Celtic customs and has gained popularity in Europe. The Blauwe Wijk started this initiative five years ago as a pilot project to engage the community. Households could sign up to participate, offering various treats, and children received a voucher for drinks if they visited houses further from the center.
