István Boldog on receiving a tracker: Why would I leave the country?

István Boldog, a former Fidesz MP, expressed his belief that his conviction was politically motivated after being sentenced to five years in prison for corruption-related charges. He argued that he cooperated with authorities throughout the legal process and claimed that the evidence against him was insufficient. Boldog suggested that he has made enemies within his party, which may have influenced the proceedings against him. Despite the conviction, he stated he would not flee Hungary, asserting his innocence and commitment to the nation. The court also imposed a monitoring device on him and another defendant. The Fidesz party has previously labeled other detained politicians as political prisoners, but opposition representatives do not consider Boldog as such, emphasizing the legal process's impartiality.
