Arouca firefighters with new notification system

The Volunteer Firefighters of Arouca have implemented a new communication system to notify local councils about incidents in their areas, enhancing coordination. This internal tool allows the 16 councils in the region to receive timely alerts about emergencies, improving information flow and collaboration with local authorities. The commander, Sérgio Azevedo, emphasized the importance of timely information for council leaders in managing community safety. The fire department has seen an increase in activity, handling over 5,100 services this year, including emergency medical situations and patient transport, reflecting their crucial role in community support.
