Boat with 30 refugees found off the coast of Dutch village Breskens: "This is exceptional"
Dutch police intercepted a rubber boat carrying 30 people off the coast of Breskens, suspected to be refugees. The authorities are unsure if they intended to cross the Channel to the UK or seek asylum in the Netherlands. Emergency services responded quickly after reports of a suspicious situation. Initially reluctant to disembark, the boat was eventually towed to Cadzand for safety. The identities of the occupants remain unknown, and an investigation is underway. A spokesperson noted that it is unusual for refugees to arrive in the Netherlands by boat, as most typically come via mainland Europe.
