Industry in retreat. Several thousand jobs to be eliminated

The automotive parts industry in Europe faces significant challenges, including global competition and high costs of technological transition. A report by the Automotive Parts Distributors and Manufacturers Association (SDCM) highlights that nearly 19,000 jobs are at risk due to declining exports, which fell from €28.9 billion to €24.4 billion in two years. The report advocates for the EU's Industrial Accelerator Act to foster investment and employment, emphasizing that at least 75% of vehicle parts should be produced in Europe to protect local factories. Additionally, the industry calls for flexible CO2 emission regulations that consider diverse technologies and market realities.
