Břidličná rejected cooperation in the construction of wind farms in the referendum
Residents of Břidličná voted against the city's cooperation in the preparation and construction of wind farms in a recent referendum. The local court mandated the referendum, which the city initially opposed due to existing contracts with investors and potential financial repercussions. Mayor Miroslav Kladníček expressed concerns about penalties and the return of funds already received. The project involves collaboration with ČEZ and Al Invest, proposing eleven wind turbines that could generate significant revenue for the city. Despite the city's objections, the court ruled that contractual obligations do not prevent citizens from voting. Over 900 voters opposed the project, but turnout was lower than expected, raising questions about future actions regarding the contracts.
