"Weapons Against Global Shipping". Bahrain Accuses Iran and Houthi

Bahrain accused Iran and Houthi rebels of using maritime technologies as weapons against global shipping during a UN Security Council meeting. Bahrain's representative, Jamal Fares Alrowaiei, highlighted the threats posed by Houthi groups to navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait, endangering sailors and disrupting international trade. He stated that Iran employs unmanned, remote-controlled vessels loaded with explosives for attacks in the Strait of Hormuz. Alrowaiei emphasized that technological advancements should promote peace, not serve as tools for coercion. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis called for a global maritime ceasefire, referencing a recent drone attack on a Greek container ship off Bulgaria's coast.
