Brussels adds another fee. Purchases on Chinese platforms may become significantly more expensive
The new EU customs code introduces a fee of 2 euros per item in customs declarations, adding to the existing flat-rate duty of 3 euros, totaling 5 euros from November 1. This fee aims to curb imports from China, particularly low-value goods, which have seen a 50% drop in customs declarations since the duty was implemented. Despite these measures, a survey indicates that 79.7% of Polish consumers continue to shop on Chinese e-commerce platforms. The Polish market remains attractive for Chinese goods, with around 100 million packages arriving annually, causing significant losses for local online retailers.
