Brussels approved Hungary's 5.4 billion euro defense plan
The European Commission approved Hungary's SAFE program plan, granting a credit line of €5.4 billion. This was the last national plan awaiting evaluation. Following this approval, over €21 billion will remain available for use within the program. The SAFE initiative, part of a €150 billion EU defense loan program, allows member states to finance military and defense investments. Hungary initially indicated a need for €17.4 billion, but the approved plan is limited to €5.4 billion. Earlier this year, there were concerns about delays in evaluating Hungary's plan, which had been pending while other member states' requests were approved.
