Brussels supports journalism with 20.5 million euros

The European Commission has allocated €20.5 million to support journalism and media organizations, focusing on cross-border collaborations and mechanisms to assess press freedom violations. The funds will be distributed through three programs: the first, with €14 million, aims to finance partnerships in journalism, promoting collaboration among media outlets and local public interest media. The second program, funded with €3.5 million, seeks to enhance citizens' media literacy to navigate information spaces confidently and combat misinformation. Lastly, €3 million will strengthen an independent rapid response mechanism to monitor press freedom violations in the EU and candidate countries. Applications for these programs are open until October 22.
