British Ministry of Defence: Russian spy ship observed NATO exercises off the coast of Scotland

Between September 29 and October 8, the Russian reconnaissance ship Viktor Leonov was tracked by British helicopters while moving along the Outer Hebrides. The UK Ministry of Defence reported that the ship monitored NATO vessels participating in the Strike Warrior exercises, involving around 2000 soldiers from six countries. Captain James Hall stated that the rapid deployment of Merlin helicopters demonstrated the air force's readiness. Additionally, British naval vessels, including HMS Dauntless and HMS Tyne, have recently engaged with Russian ships in the English Channel, highlighting the UK's role in countering Russian naval activities. Reports indicate a 25% increase in British naval interventions regarding Russian military actions in UK waters compared to the previous year.
