Bulgaria gets pro-Russian president with Jotova, support for Prime Minister Radev

Iliana Jotova has been elected as Bulgaria's first female president, securing 56 to 58 percent of the votes. Her opponent, Andrej Gjoerov, received 38 to 40 percent and congratulated her on the victory. Jotova, currently interim president and former vice president, supports pro-Russian policies and opposes military aid to Ukraine. Voter turnout was slightly higher than in the first round, reaching 27 to 29 percent. The elections occurred amid drone attacks in the Black Sea, which have raised concerns about regional security and prompted Bulgaria to seek military assistance from allies.
