Bulgarians decide on the head of state in the second round of presidential elections
Bulgaria holds its presidential runoff election with incumbent Iliana Yotova facing former interim Prime Minister Andrej Gyurov. The election reflects differing foreign policy approaches, particularly regarding Russia and Ukraine. Yotova, supported by several parties, won the first round with 34.76% of the votes, while Gyurov received 31.95%. Voter turnout was notably low at 22.98%. Gyurov emphasized the need for a stable and European Bulgaria, urging citizens to vote. The campaign occurred amid increased drone attacks in the Black Sea, raising public debate about the government's stance on Russia's aggression.
