He was on unpaid leave for 19 years. Now he is returning to work at the county office.

Krzysztof Matyjaszczyk, former mayor of Częstochowa, has returned to work at the county office after a 19-year unpaid leave. He was dismissed in a referendum due to corruption allegations. Matyjaszczyk had been on leave since 2007 when he became a member of parliament, and his leave was extended when he became mayor in 2010. Following his dismissal on October 25, he announced his intention to return to work, which he is legally entitled to do. The current head of the Architectural and Construction Administration Department was appointed through a competition, so Matyjaszczyk may be offered a different position. He maintains his innocence regarding the corruption charges against him.
