Chamber maintains land for housing in Alta de Lisboa
The Lisbon City Council approved an agreement with the Sociedade Gestora da Alta de Lisboa to retain municipal land with significant housing potential. This decision follows the rejection of a contract extension that would have allowed private development. The agreement aims to resolve long-standing contractual disputes and ensures the preservation of over 71,500 square meters for affordable housing projects. Various political parties expressed differing views, with some praising the decision to keep land public, while others emphasized the need for transparency and commitment to public housing. The agreement is seen as a step towards addressing Lisbon's housing crisis.
