"Zero Rate at the Wheel" campaign launched on Tuesday
The National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), along with the PSP and GNR, is launching the "Zero Alcohol at the Wheel" campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol. Statistics show that in 2025, 28% of road accident victims had blood alcohol levels above the legal limit, with 78% of those being at levels that constitute a crime. The campaign, running until November 9, includes awareness actions by ANSR and enforcement operations by PSP and GNR, focusing on risky behaviors linked to serious accidents. Five joint actions are planned across mainland Portugal, involving regional administrations from the Azores and Madeira. The campaign is part of the National Enforcement Plan for 2026, aligned with European recommendations and the Vision Zero 2030 strategy.
