Canadian sentenced for stealing flamingo from enclosure in Las Vegas

Mitchell Fairbarn, a 34-year-old, was filmed taking a flamingo to his hotel room while reportedly drunk. He claimed he did not intend to harm the bird, having consumed 40 to 50 beers. However, experts testified in court that the flamingo suffered pain, losing feathers and blood. Fairbarn's lawyer described the act as foolish but innocent, acknowledging his client's poor choices. Since his arrest in March, Fairbarn has been barred from leaving the U.S., with sentencing scheduled for December.
