Canadian publisher says novelist Orélien used AI to write novel

Thélyson Orélien's publisher, Boréal, confirmed that AI was used in the writing of his novel, leading to the termination of their relationship. Orélien denied these claims, asserting that he only used AI for research purposes. The novel faced scrutiny after AI detection tests indicated it contained computer-generated text, resulting in its withdrawal from a prestigious literary prize shortlist. Orélien, who fled Haiti after the 2010 earthquake, acknowledged past mistakes regarding plagiarism but maintains that his current work is original.
