Blue crab is the new bet of the Algarve economy

The blue crab is being researched for commercialization in Olhão and Castro Marim, supported by over 700,000 euros from European funds. A consortium including S2AQUAcoLab, the University of Algarve, and a private company is involved in the project. The aim is to market this invasive species when it molts and becomes soft, similar to its status as a delicacy in the USA.
