Fuels: the government claims that the price of diesel has dropped by "12 to 18 cents" in more than half of the service stations thanks to the release of strategic stocks
The price of diesel has decreased by 12 to 18 cents per liter in over half of French gas stations, according to Minister Serge Papin. This reduction aligns with government promises made at the end of October, following the release of strategic oil reserves to lower fuel prices. The French government announced that consumers would benefit from these price drops starting November 1, with 10 million barrels of diesel sold at cost price to distributors. While many stations have lowered prices, some independent operators claim they have not received the same benefits as larger companies. Minister Papin assured that measures are in place to assist smaller stations in reducing their prices soon. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu also confirmed the price drop, emphasizing that the government will ensure consumers fully benefit from the strategic reserve release.
