Carlos Cesar wants to curb government gains from fuels and more fiscal audacity with large companies
Carlos César, the president of the Socialist Party, expressed the need to limit government revenue from carbon and fuel taxes while advocating for increased fiscal responsibility from large companies. Speaking in Ovar, he justified supporting the 2027 State Budget to avoid political instability and prevent the far-right from gaining ground. He criticized the government's current approach, which he believes is mismanaged, leading to unnecessary public spending despite rising revenues. César proposed a measure to prevent increased government profits in the fuel sector and called for a more socially responsible tax environment for large corporations, including those in tobacco and gambling. He emphasized the importance of new financing methods for the sustainability of the social state.
