Houses become more expensive, but fewer are sold in Portugal

In Portugal, house prices are rising, but sales have decreased by 9% compared to last year. The National Institute of Statistics reports that in 10 out of 24 municipalities, prices increased faster than in the previous quarter. The Algarve, Lisbon, Setúbal, Porto, and Madeira remain the most expensive regions. The median price per square meter is €2,445, translating to €244,500 for a 100 square meter home. Although prices continue to rise, the growth rate has slowed from 19.8% to 18.4%. All 26 sub-regions analyzed saw price increases, with Loures and Matosinhos experiencing the highest acceleration. Conversely, Guimarães saw the largest slowdown. Foreign buyers tend to pay more for properties.
