Durán Case. "I wish the referee had explained better," says the president of the Arbitration Council

Luciano Gonçalves, president of the Portuguese Football Arbitration Council, commented on the Durán case and the expulsion of referee Cláudio Pereira, stating that the referee could have provided a clearer explanation. He emphasized that the decision aimed to condemn a player's behavior that incited anger among opponents. Gonçalves also addressed the Hélder Malheiro information leak case, asserting that it is impossible for Malheiro to have received prior information from the Arbitration Council, as appointment processes are conducted transparently. He noted that sharing opinions among club officials is normal and highlighted the importance of experienced referees for significant matches.
