Price still rules Polish shopping. New study shows what else matters
Polish consumers prioritize price, promotions, and store proximity when shopping. Despite a decline in the number of stores, discount chains dominate the market, controlling over half of it. Hypermarkets have not achieved expected dominance due to changing consumer preferences and competition. The retail market is evolving, with a significant increase in promotional activities, especially among discount stores like Żabka and Biedronka, which adapt to consumer behavior by offering short-term promotions and loyalty programs. This shift reflects a growing trend where consumers plan purchases around discounts, emphasizing the importance of competitive pricing and convenience in retail choices.
