Hundreds of police and guards protest in Lisbon for better salaries
Hundreds of police officers from PSP and GNR protested in Lisbon demanding better salaries and working conditions. Organized by ASPP and APG, they marched to the Prime Minister's residence to deliver their demands. Protesters wore black shirts calling for respect and adherence to a 2024 agreement. APG president César Nogueira emphasized the need for salary increases by 2027 and a review of the remuneration statute, which hasn't changed since 2009. ASPP president Paulo Santos criticized the government's lack of concrete proposals during ongoing negotiations, highlighting the protest's aim to pressure the government for better conditions and public safety.
