Zeman and Schuster will be the first to receive the Czech-Slovak Mutuality Award
The first recipients of the Czech-Slovak Mutuality Award will be former presidents Miloš Zeman and Rudolf Schuster. The award aims to honor individuals who have contributed to the development of Czech-Slovak relations. The ceremony will take place in Martin, Slovakia, and will be presented by the speakers of both parliaments. Zeman, who served as Czech president from 2013 to 2023, has been a proponent of close ties between the two nations since the split of Czechoslovakia. Schuster, the first directly elected president of Slovakia, served from 1999 to 2004 and has a background in diplomacy. The award reflects the historical connection between the two countries, dating back to the declaration of the Czechoslovak state in 1918.
