CGD obtains a reinforcement of 95 million euros in public guarantee for housing credit

Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) received an additional €95 million for its public housing credit guarantee, raising the total to €602.2 million. This increase aims to support young buyers in acquiring their first homes amid high demand. Since January 2025, CGD has financed 23,000 young individuals, totaling €3.2 billion, with an average client age of 29. The state guarantee accounts for 27% of the credit contracted, with a low default rate below 1%. Prior to this boost, CGD's allocation was €507.2 million. The recent average monthly consumption was €31.2 million, expected to rise to €37.4 million in the last quarter. The additional funds will ensure operations until the end of 2026, without plans for renewal in 2027.
