Chega challenges Seguro to publicly support the police's actions
André Ventura, leader of Chega, urged the President of Portugal to publicly support police actions during recent housing protests. He criticized opposition parties for promoting law violations and suggested they should amend protest laws instead. Ventura defended police intervention, which involved force against demonstrators in Lisbon and Porto, claiming it was justified. He accused protesters of aiming to insult police and institutions, and echoed the Attorney General's call for legislative review of the 1974 protest law. The protests resulted in injuries and arrests, with demonstrators demanding housing reforms. Leftist parties condemned police actions, while only the ruling PSD supported them.
