China investigates former president of two of the largest state oil companies for corruption
Chinese authorities have launched an investigation into Fu Chengyu, former president of Sinopec and CNOOC, for alleged serious violations of discipline and law. The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) did not provide specific details about the allegations. Fu, 75, has a long career in the oil industry, having led CNOOC since its inception in 1982 and later Sinopec until his retirement in 2015. This investigation is part of President Xi Jinping's broader anti-corruption campaign targeting high-ranking officials and state-owned enterprises. The announcement follows a recent plenary session focused on discipline and anti-corruption efforts.
