Chinese household appliances are pushing Polish ones out of Europe. Over 100,000 jobs at risk.
From January to July, the EU imported over 26.5 million household appliances from China, marking a 12.1% increase compared to the previous year. In contrast, Polish exports fell by 0.8% to 9.1 million units. China's market share has risen to over 38%, while Poland's has decreased to 13.2%. The value of imports from China exceeded 3.2 billion euros, a 12.9% increase, while Polish imports dropped to just over 2 billion euros. The EU's response includes the proposed CBAM regulation to equalize CO₂ emission costs, but the current scope only covers a fraction of Polish production. Industry leaders stress the need for immediate action to support local manufacturers and maintain competitiveness against Asian imports, warning of potential factory closures and job losses without intervention.
