Chris Brown serves suspended sentence for assault in London

American singer Chris Brown received a suspended sentence of twelve months for assaulting a man in London in February 2023. The Southwark Crown Court initially held him in custody for six days and denied bail. Brown was arrested in May 2025 during a UK concert tour and was required to pay a £5 million bail. His defense strategy involved pleading guilty to public disorder to reduce his sentence, which was initially eight months in prison. The incident involved Brown attacking producer Abraham Diaw with a tequila bottle. The court reduced his sentence to a suspended twelve-month term, contingent on no further offenses. Vocal coach Omololu Akinlolu also received a suspended sentence for his involvement. Both must pay court costs. This is not Brown's first legal issue, with previous allegations including assaulting Rihanna and drugging a woman in Miami.
