Citizens against the concession of the Sintra and Cascais lines

A group of citizens in Lisbon presented a manifesto opposing the privatization of suburban train lines operated by CP, advocating for a unified public railway company. The manifesto responds to the government's plan to concession profitable lines, which the authors argue undermines the public service. Humberto Costa, spokesperson for the manifesto, criticized the potential loss of profitable services from CP. Minister Miguel Pinto Luz suggested that privatization could allow CP to focus on less profitable lines. The manifesto highlights concerns about efficiency and public spending, citing examples of private operators and recent train accidents in Spain to emphasize the need for integrated railway management.
