Chinese national accused of espionage acquitted, court finds no crime
The Prague Municipal Court acquitted Chinese citizen Yang Yiming of espionage charges, stating that his actions did not constitute a crime. The court found that while Yang was affiliated with Chinese intelligence and engaged in activities for a foreign power, there was no evidence he intended to harm Czech national interests. The prosecutor has appealed the ruling and the case will be reviewed by the High Court in Prague. Yang, who claimed to be conducting legitimate journalistic work, was released from custody after the verdict. The trial was marked by strict security measures due to the sensitive nature of the information involved.
