Five accused of attempting to assault comedian critical of Xi
Five individuals in Taiwan have been accused of attempting to harm a comedian known for mocking Chinese President Xi Jinping, allegedly at the behest of a person from mainland China. The comedian, Huang Yihao, reported an incident where a vehicle struck him, leading to suspicions of a politically motivated attack. The suspects, all Taiwanese, allegedly accepted payment to injure Huang to prevent him from performing. They were instructed by an individual known as 'K' from mainland China, who sought to gather personal information about Huang. The Taiwanese authorities are seeking prison sentences for the accused, while Taiwan's government condemned the incident as an attempt to suppress political expression.
