Five people accused of exploiting two Portuguese in Spain for 15 years

Five individuals have been accused of human trafficking and money laundering for allegedly exploiting two Portuguese citizens in Spain for 15 years. The Coimbra Public Prosecutor's Office reported that four men and one woman, all Portuguese nationals, are charged with trafficking for labor exploitation and money laundering. They allegedly recruited and controlled the victims, who were in vulnerable situations, forcing them to work in poor conditions on farms in Burgos, Spain. The victims worked long hours without proper pay, receiving only 20 euros per month. The accused reportedly profited over 572,000 euros from their exploitation. Two of the accused are in preventive detention, while the others face non-custodial measures. The investigation involved cooperation with Spanish authorities and was led by the Judicial Police.
